Adia G. Dobbins is a native of Johnstown, PA and a proud 1995 graduate of Richland Senior High School. Following her days in Pennsylvania, Dobbins attended CCM where she matriculated with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in Jazz Voice and General Music. She then remained in Cincinnati, Ohio, to pursue a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis on Non-Profit Arts Management.
While pursuing both of her degrees, Dobbins worked professionally in the Cincinnati area performing a variety of musical styles in a diversity of venues. She performed Jazz in the historic clubs of Cincinnati, Gospel music in a Community Choir, and as Cantor in an African-American Catholic church. When not performing, Dobbins worked professionally as a marketing, public relations and relationship management specialist in a variety of industries. Her resume includes positions in non-profit arts management, banking, diversity management consulting, human resources and corporate law.
While pursuing her career in management, Dobbins auditioned for and was awarded the role of “Nala” in the West Coast tour of Disney’s The Lion King. Dobbins successfully performed with the company for 2 1⁄2 years. Upon completion of that tour, she had the opportunity to perform in various Regional and Off-Broadway musical productions both in and around New York City. Most recently, Dobbins resided in Detroit, MI where she began private vocal instruction studio and was featured at such legendary venues as the historic Whitney, Cliff Bell’s, The Rooster Tail and Baker’s Keyboard Lounge which is the oldest operating Jazz club in the United States. Upon her recent return to Cincinnati, Dobbins has performed at various local jazz venues, and has begun recording her first album of original music.
