Alyssa Mehnert has worked in the jazz, gospel and Latin idioms as a trombonist and composer/arranger. She has performed with and had her arrangements played by musicians such as drummer Peter Erskine and bassist Robert Hurst.
She currently freelances in Indianapolis and Cincinnati. She is also adjunct professor of music at Northern Kentucky University and at Butler University.
Alyssa received her Masters of Music – Jazz Studies from Indiana University, where she studied with Dr. David Baker, Brent Wallarab, and Dee Stewart. She has also studied with pianist, composer and educator Bill Dobbins at Eastman School of Music.
Alyssa received her Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies – Trombone in 2007 from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
